JAMES MUNSON
MD, Marks and Spencer Reliance India Pvt Ltd
James Munson is the Managing Director for Marks & Spencer’s joint venture business in India with Reliance Retail. With 71 stores across 28 cities, India has the largest number of Marks & Spencer stores outside of the UK and has committed to further expansion over the coming years. The retailer is also growing its online reach across the country via leading fashion platforms Myntra, AJIO , Amazon and most recently with Flipkart.
James, a retail professional with over 20 years of experience in the industry, has worked for Marks & Spencer since 2006. He has held various leadership positions across the business including Store Manager at Camberley and Kingston, two of Marks & Spencer’s largest UK stores. In 2011, he was appointed as Marks & Spencer Reliance India’s Head of Retail Operations including responsibilities for Supply Chain and Visual Merchandising. In 2014, James was appointed Managing Director of the M&S Czech Group with responsibility for 48 stores in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, and Estonia. James returned to India in May 2017 to take up his current role.
James, 40, is an MBA graduate from the University of Manchester. He is married to Claire with two children; Joshua and Charlotte.
